Universal Pictures Movies Currently In Cinemas Available To Stream Very Soon

Universal Pictures make massive announcement

Universal Pictures have announced their movies currently in cinema will be available to rent.

The decision comes as the coronavirus pandemic makes it impossible for many to leave their homes.

The studio announced the news in a statement published on Monday.

They said given the current pandemic, they felt it was, 'the right time to provide this option...'

However, they insist, 'NBCUniversal will continue to evaluate the environment as conditions evolve.'

CEO of NBCUniversal, Jeff Shell said, 'Universal Pictures has a broad and diverse range of movies with 2020 being no exception.'

He said this new initiative means they won't have to delay their movies or release, 'them into a challenged distribution landscape.'

'We wanted to provide an option for people to view these titles in the home that is both accessible and affordable.'

Jeff said he hopes people will still continue to go to the movies in theatres where available.

However, the company understand this isn't possible for most people considering the current global pandemic.

So starting from Friday March 20th, movies including The Hunt, The Invisible Man and Emma will all be available to rent.

Comcast say the movies will be, 'at a suggested retail price of $19.99 in the U.S. and the price equivalent in international markets.'

They'll be available to rent for a 48 hour period from Comcast and Sky as well as, 'a broad range of on-demand partners.'

However, major blockbusters are apparently not included in this new initiative.
